Senior year at SCAD is coming up, and it's high time I start thinking about what I would like to spend 2 quarters creating as a final project.
Some themes I would generally like to explore with this include:
The subjectivity of truth.
This topic has captured my interest recently. How two different realities are perceived to be correct by two different parties.
This theme can be expressed through illusions, specifically perspective illusions, where something changes it's nature based on the perspective you view it. To express the subjectivity of truth in a visual manner would be something worth exploring.
2. Order vs. Chaos
Another theme, perhaps more lighthearted than the previous, would be order vs. chaos. This would be expressed by two opposing parties desiring their respective nature.
For example, one character carefully lining up pencils on a desk, while another character deliberately decimating any pattern that could be detected. In this manner, the destruction of patterns is something that could be expressed visually to represent this theme.
While usually the character desiring order is the one being frustrated by the character causing chaos, I think it would be interesting to flip this on its head. For instance, perhaps a more artistically minded character desires the level of randomness, yet a mindless robot stacks things into neat rows, frustrating the ambassador of chaos.
