PH VFX x SCAD Week Seven - Look Development

This week, as the head of CG in my group, it was up to me to create a nice and functional look development rig to show off our CG assets, and make sure there are no glaring issues with the model or textures. I did it by the book.

Parts of a Look Development Rig:

  1. Color Checker Chart

  2. HDR

  3. Reflective chrome sphere

  4. White ball for lighting reference

  5. Our fully textured model

  6. Sphere with our texture as well

  7. Soft cyclorama background

  8. Revolving animation

A look development rig is visually simple, but it's important to get all of these details as correct/accurate as possible.

The first turntable I made with Jadyn's base texture and the first version of my Obelisk texture.

Version 2. My texture received some work, but it was clear there was not enough surface variation

Version 3. Final version of my texture.

Version 4. The mentors, specifically Monica, were itching to see my CG work integrated into our footage. This version was created based off that feedback.

Version 1 of Flag turntable. I handed the model and further texture updates to Sukhmeet, as he needed the asset right away to get working on the cloth simulation.
